This blog page will follow and record the progress of our participation in the 'Lead Creative Schools' scheme. Early in 2017 we applied to be part of the scheme where funding of up to £10,000 over two years is awarded to successful school applicants. We were fortunate enough to be successful and chosen to participate in the scheme. Three members of staff, Mrs James, Mrs Udy and Mrs Farrell participated in Lead Creative Schools training in September 2017 for the first project and we were allocated a Creative Agent, Carl Chapple, to help assist us in managing and devising our projects. Mrs James is the Lead Creative Schools Coordinator. Our blog is updated by the children and staff who are working on the project. Follow us on our creative journey. For the academic year 2018-2019 Mrs Parfitt will participate in some of our workshops and over the next two years we plan to disseminate the creative ethos and facilitate training for all staff across the school.

And we're off!!!

This week we have used all the skills from previous sessions and we have created our own web pages. We decided on layout and design and even managed to finally agree on a title for our school magazine web site!

Web sites often use 'quotes' in their news or articles so we thought we'd include some of our quotes about today's session.

"Today was really fun! I loved taking photos." (Leo)

"I really enjoyed playing 'I love hue'. This taught us all about the use of colour when designing. It was fun but it was tricky at the higher level." (Grace)

"We made a web site using WIX. I really enjoyed it! (Raffy)

"We downloaded photographs. It was hard but we worked it out." (Ella)

We had some technical problems today. We just couldn't understand why the laptops had no battery life even after they had been plugged in and on charge for ages. Then we realised  that the chargers were not switched on at the plug!

"Oooops sorry!!" (Mrs Udy)

Next session we are planning a first draft of our whole school magazine website and we will be writing articles ready to include in our first publication. Not long now, we hopefully be 'going live' in a few weeks.

Investigating and Researching. Using iBook Creator.

We have had a great time in the digital hub. Our third session is taking us closer to producing our own website.

Look at some of the things we have been doing this week.

We looked at newspapers to learn about the 5 Ws of a newspaper report (WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and WHY)

We record our ideas in our personal journals.

We used the i books app to create our own book. We designed the layout of the pages and imported pictures to fit our article.

Here are our examples below.
